SIMON BRAND
Simón Brand is an accomplished film and television director with over two decades of experience in the industry. Born and raised in Colombia, Simón discovered his passion for storytelling at a young age when he shot his first music video for a popular band. He went on to win an MTV award for his first collaboration with Shakira. Throughout his career in the film industry, he gained recognition for his unique visual style and ability to bring sensitive stories to life on the screen.
Simón has since directed more than 200 commercials for brands like Coca-Cola, Nabisco, BMW, and a wide range of music videos for artists such as Ricky Martin, Shakira, Jessica Simpson, Maluma, Enrique Iglesias, and many more. His true calling was the film industry and TV, so he embarked on his first feature, “FUNKNOWN,” a thriller starring Jim Caviezel, Greg Kinnear, and Joe Pantoliano. Soon after came the massive success of his second film, “Paraiso Travel,” breaking all box office records in Latin America and winning more than a dozen awards at festivals.
“Default” is his most recent film, starring David Oyelowo as a Somali pirate hijacking a plane in Africa. Most recently, he served as showrunner and director for the dance-driven NETFLIX drama “Savage Rhythm,” directed and produced a GOYO S HBO Special, and directed two new season episodes of NBCUniversal’s “Law and Order: Organized Crime.” Up next, he will collaborate as showrunner and director with Paramount+ on their new music series “Mixtape,” premiering on May 2.
Chosen by Variety Magazine as one of the most influential Latinos in Hollywood, he is known for his ability to collaborate effectively with actors, writers, and producers to bring compelling stories to the screen. Simón is based in Los Angeles and continues to be an influential force in the film and television industry, inspiring others through his unique and creative vision.
