GABE IBAÑEZ
After graduating from the Complutense University in Madrid with a degree in imaging science, Gabe started his professional career working as a surveyor and post-production supervisor. Since 2000, he has grown his career as an advertising director in multiple countries, with his work being awarded at numerous international festivals. In 2001, he founded the design and post-production company User T38, with which he has since developed his film projects.
In 2007, he won the Special Jury Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival for his short film “Maquina.” In 2009, “Hierro” premiered during the Cannes Film Festival’s International Critics’ Week. In 2014, he wrote and directed “Automata,” a film starring Antonio Banderas that competed for the Golden Shell in the official selection of the San Sebastián International Film Festival. “Automata” was screened in theaters in over twenty countries, including the United States, China, and Japan.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Gabe is a devoted father to his son and an avid enthusiast of literature. He resides in Madrid, where he finds inspiration for his creative endeavors amidst the city’s rich cultural landscape.
