Gabe Ibáñez

Director | Bio

After graduating from the Complutense University in Madrid with a degree in imaging science, Gabe Ibáñez started his professional career working as a surveyor and post-production supervisor.

Since 2000, he has grown his career as an advertising director in multiple countries, with his work being awarded at numerous international festivals. In 2001, he founded the design and post-production company User T38, with which he has since developed his film projects.

In 2007, he won the Special Jury Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival for his short film Máquina. In 2009, Hierro premiered during the Cannes Film Festival‘s International Critics’ Week. In 2014, he wrote and directed Autómata, a film starring Antonio Banderas that competed for the Golden Shell in the official selection of the San Sebastián International Film Festival. Autómata was screened in theaters in over twenty countries, including the United States, China, and Japan.
